1. The unwanted reverse flow of water within a plumbing system due to sudden pressure fluctuations. This may cause backflow (backpressure or backsiphonage) conditions and likely a health risk allowing contaminants such as chemicals, bacteria and/or wastewater to enter the water supply.

Backflow Test Purpose

• Ensures internal components such as check and relief valves are operating properly to eliminate the contaminantion risk. 

The Testing Process

• Schedule your backflow test:
• Option 1: Forward your backflow test due notice to doctorbackflow@gmail.com and your preferred test date/time.
• Option 2: Provide your information via phone call, text message (941-499-7332) or email:

• Backflow Test Is Performed: Water will be temporarily shut off while the backflow preventer is tested. (Corrective maintenance and a second test may be required if the device does not pass)
• Payment: Your preferred payment method is submitted. (Cash, Check, Zelle, CashApp or Card)
• Reporting: You and your water authority will receive a copy of the backflow test report and receipt via email.

Test Frequency Requirements

• Residential Properties: Testing is required every two years. (Biannual)
• Commercial Properties: Testing is required every year. (Annually)
